I used to be like my buddies, on MSN all the time and having my cool little hotmail.com inbox. I remember first getting invited into Gmail when no one had it which was many years ago. From the first time I logged into Gmail I was hooked.

Many years have past and Gmail just got better, faster, smarter, and unique. I want to cover some cool features in Gmail in this short little post.

1. You ever forget to sign out of your account at School, Work, or any place with a public computer no problem Gmail thought of that.

When you are by a computer simply click on "details" located at the bottom of your Gmail page.

Once you click on details it will show you a need little log like the one below:

You can click on "Sign out  all other sessions". In the Alert Preferences at the button you can set up alerts for unusual activities.

2. Shift Click (this one is simple)

Simply select the message you want to start from hold shift click on the last message you want to select and you can select a group of messages pretty cool eh!

3. EOM

Do you ever send an email without a body in it? For example: Want to grab lunch at 12:30 (just in the subject line but no body)

No problem just put EOM at the end of the message: Example: "Want to grab lunch at 12:30 EOM" and Gmail won't give you the prompt asking you "Are you sure you want to send message without a body" cool!

4. This one I started using recently it's called mail personalization

If you turn it on you will email messages show in this matter below:

> - means the message was addressed to you and other people

>> - means the email was only addressed to you

So you have been ripping your hair out and trying to setup outlook with GoDaddy and you have been receiving this error.

I am going to show you screen shots of the exact setup you will need to have for Godaddy to work with outlook.

The First Screen must look like this.

Now Click on "More Settings" and ensure that "My outing server (SMTP) requires authentication)" has a check mark.

Click now the advanced tab.

Ensure you have the exact settings and you are done. Also make sure you have the actual inbox added in the Godaddy email setup control panel!

Ok, so you want custom blockquotes. In this tutorial i am going to show you how to define a custom blockquote class called magazine and adding many other custom "class" tags that you can call directly from your WordPress HTML editor.

1. So essentially an object in HTML can have many classes. For example if we defined a class in our main style.css file in our WordPress theme, which should be located under.

/wp-content/plugins/themes/yourpluginname/style.css

we will be able to call that style later, with our HTML editor in WordPress, for this example let's assume we defined:

p.first{ color: blue; }
p.second{ color: red; }

What this means is that when we edit our blog content and use the paragraph tag

<p class.first> the dog is blue </p>

The output would be:

the dog is blue

If we used,

<p class.second> the dog is red </p>

The output would be:

the dog is red

So now  let's get into it and add custom classes to our style.css for blockquotes specifically the magazine blockquote i showed you earlier.

1. We will open style.css, in our /wp-content/plugins/themes/yourpluginname/style.css at the end of the file we will define the class by adding this code.

as you see we defined the class magazine here, now save our style.css. We can define whatever we want this is just an example for beginners to show the power of CSS!

2. If we want to use the magazine blockquote we simply, write the following tag into our HTML editor in wordpress

<blockquote class="magazine"> Hello </blockquote>

This is a custom class we created that is called magazine and here we are just calling it in our HTML

3. That is it, now you have a custom blockquote class we can play around and create as many blockquote classes we want or any others. This guide was designd to provide help for anyone that is a beginner to WordPress like me.

and our final result of the magazine blockquote will look like this:

Some key points you should know by getting crazy with defining CSS classes.

• They consume bandwidth
• Will slow down the performance of loading pages if there is Gazillion of them
• Will complicate your HTML code and it will be come dirty with alot of tags we don't want that!

Okay so GMAIL has a plug in where you can setup your GMAIL to have the ability to SMS your contact directly from the GMAIL web-based platform. If you are in Canada this won't work for Canadian carriers

This platform stil comes useful if you want to text the people in the following countries below:

• Israel
• Palestinian Territories (I dunno what it is meant by palestinian territories, but this is how they have it setup)
• Ghana
• United States (the big daddy of them all.)

To enable this SMS plugin simply login into your Gmail account, head on over to Settings tab.

Under the Settings tab find the tab called Labs.

You will find the following two SMS options grouped near eachother in the Labs tab:

Enable both of them, and click Save changes (all the way at the buttom of all the google labs plugins)

Now when you are chatting with someone and you know they are in supported countries, you can simly

Click on their name once the chat opens up click "Video & more"  select send SMS you should see the following window

and pick the country one set up you will see a SMS chat window anything typed in there will go to the contacts phone, to switch back to chat mode you will click the chat mode option on a screen below that you will see when you are in SMS mode.

NOTE: You can create a dummy contact if you just want to use Gmail chat to SMS someone. I am not sure if they are able to

Can't sign into MSN on Windows 7?. Here is a Quick How to FIX!

1. Make sure that your date & time is set correctly (if it is go to step 2. If it is not the right time and date set it and try login in.)
2. Go to http://account.live.com (try to sign in there if you are able to sign in,go to step 3. If you are unable to sign it this means the service is down and the only thing you can do is wait)

3. Now go to Start -> Control Panel

Click on Programs

Once in Programs -> Click on Programs and Features

Right click highlighted Windows Live Essentials right click it and select Uninstall/Change

Now you will see the following screen.

Select Repair and hit Continue go through the process, and RESTART computer when it is finished, you should be back online now. This works well and was tested in Windows 7.(32bit)

OK, If you don't have data on your (Fido,Rogers,Telus,Bell or whatever carrier) and you want to simply change your Facebook Status, or reply to a MSG on your wall, this can be done with Text Message.

You can Add another Phone, Turn Text On or Off, Setup Time when Text messages will go to your phone and limit daily texts too a specific amount, and WHO's status updates should go to your phone.

Hit Save preferences and you are all done!

OK, recently torrents are being crawled by various ANTI -Peer 2 Peer organization, what happens here they try to download a torrent from you and once they are successful you get reported to your ISP based on your IP address.

In this post I am going to show you how to install a basic application called PeerBlock and how to enable Encryption in uTorrent to be safe.

(Check out the you tube video if you don't feel like reading all the steps in this HOW-TO)

STEP1: Go to Peer Block Downloads Page

Once there you will see the following screen:

Now click on the highlighted text on the web page that states "PeerBlock 1.0", this will take you to  other page (the only reason i am not linking directly to a file because I know they will release new versions of the software as time passes, this process assures you get the latest version always)

STEP2: When clicking on PeerBlock 1.0 you will end up at this page now.

STEP3: Click on PeerBlock 1.0 Installer - For Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (note this installation works with 32bit and 64bit Windows 7)

Download PeerBlock and save it into a place where you can find it after.

STEP4: Execute the PeerBlock installation file by double-clicking on it.

STEP5: Accept Run in the following screen

STEP6: Accept the PeerBlock LLC UAC - in Windows 7 and Vista by hitting YES

Now you will see the following screen:

Hit NEXT

Select "I accept the agreement" and hit NEXT

Once again hit NEXT, you will see the following screen

From here you can change the install path, I leave it default at: C:\Progra Files\PeerBlock hit NEXT

I keep this default but you can choose not to create Start Menu Folder. (This way you will have no shortcut to PeerBlock, leave this default and hit NEXT)

Make sure you have a check mark on Create a desktop icon, and You can select to Start PeerBlock on system start up, I wouldn't do that because alot of sites will be blocked and you might forget that this program is automatically running I would only turn this on when you are downloading torrents)

Hit NEXT

Keep settings default and hit INSTALL

Now on the installation process will finish and you will be presented with the screen below:

Hit Finish now PeerBlock will be automatically launch since we have "Launch PeerBlock" selected, now on first Start UP will see the following screen

Hit NEXT

Important Step make sure P2P has a check mark on it "Anti-P2P organizations" and hit NEXT

Leave the updates default or change as you wish, I keep it default it will auto update any list and peerblock software changes on the time interval you specify.

Hit NEXT

Hit FINISH

This is the next screen you should see below when you hit finish:

It should download the P2P list after it downloads you can hit Close, it will become active after downloading.

Now you should see PeerBlock running, you won't be able to go to certain websites like CNN.COM, UNVERSALSTUDIOS.COM etc and many many others ones around 774 million IP addresses that are blocked. When you click on your task to see hidden icons you will see:

The blue icon in the programs tool bar states that PeerBlock is running when we hit Disable it will become RED which means it is not active, We would want to disable it when we are not downloading any torrent or using any torrent websites, because we will be prevented from browsing various websites that are on the ANTI-P2P block list.

Now to the uTorrent part, if you have uTorrent installed simply go to: Your uTorrent app.

and Follow the EASY 1,2,3,4,5 and you are DONE!

1.Select BitTorrent tab on the left.

2. Enabled for Encryption

3. Check Mark on "Allow incoming legacy connections"

4. Apply

5. OK!

All done!

OK, Windows 7 has really put something that is extremely cool when it comes to parental controls. Do you have kids?

Kids go on the computer all the time, if you are home and if you are not home what parental controls allows you to do is remotely monitor your child and setup account restrictions, all this can be done remotely. Check from work what websites your child has been going on!

This is what you need:

1. Windows 7 (with parental controls)
2. a hotmail, msn, live, account

So let's get started on Windows 7 parental controls: (Before you begin make sure you have "System Administrator Privileges")

STEP 1: Click Start -> Control Panel and go into

STEP 2:Click "User Accounts and Family Safety" You should see the following screen:

STEP 3:Once there click Add or remove user accounts, that is if your child does not have an account on the computer already. (if there is an account already you will simply select "Setup parental controls for any user" under "Parental Controls"

STEP 4:Select "Create a new Account"

STEP 5:Select a "Standard user" account. Type in a name in the New Account Name box. and hit Next. (We created an account called CHILD as an example)

STEP 6:Now since we have our account created, we will now Click on the account and we will see the following menu.

STEP 7:Click on Setup Parental Controls Select the user child and Click on it

STEP 8:Now you will see the following box you can login with your hotmail, messenger or live account.(with in there you will have a interface to block certain websites and stuff, I will explain more later)

You will also now see another windows that looks like this:

STEP 9:From here make sure you select On, En fore current settings once this is enabled Time limits, Games, Allow and Block Specific Programs will become enabled. Click on each one to set them up.

Time limits is a simple grid of the hours they are allowed to log into their account. In the games options you can specify if the child can play games, set game ratings, and block and allow specific games. There is also the Allow or block specific programs (from here you can block Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger and other programs you don't want them running)

After you are done make sure you turn them on on the right side of the panel:

This is pretty much in for setting up from the Windows 7 side, further down this post I will explain the live.com management options available to you remotely to restrict your child from certain things!

Now going back to Step 7, when you supplied the hotmail, live, msn, or xbox, account we will now login to look at the various parental controls from there, the account CHILD should be linked with those credentials you provided in Step7.

STEP 10:Open up a browser and go to http://login.live.com once there login with the information you supplied in step 7. and You should see the following interface.

STEP 11:Click More in the Top bar you see once you login and select Family Safety

Once family safety loads you should see the "Family Summary" and "Your Computers" under "Your Computers" the name of the current computer you have set up for family safety should be there:

Click on the account that has Family Safety on in our example the account was CHILD (but in our example we will see Claire, because I didn't link CHILD to my live account), You should see the following screen.

From here click each one and setup the following items. Play around with these various options. For example "Activity Reporting" will show you the website your child is going on alot you can block them or allow them from that menu. I think this is a pretty exciting feature of Windows 7. The part I like about it the most you can remotely view what your child is doing no need to be home!

Okay so you got all these photos and folders in Picasa now you want to burn them to CD.

Follow these simple steps:

1. Click and run Picasa
2. Have a folder highlighted on the left side.

3. Once highlighted click on   if you don't see this icon alternatively you can click on Create --> Create Gift CD from the menu.

You should the following menu now you can click on Add More on the left side and select more folders to burn.

Burn CD and you are done. .

Note: If Picasa is having problems detecting your CD-RW/DVD-RW drive you can also create an ISO file and burn it from the desktop after  with an ISO burning software (http://www.imgburn.com/) If your drive is not detected you should get the following box

Click create ISO, and go from there.
