Wherever you live, there is a difference between owning internet technology and using internet technology. This point is made very well by Tayo Solgabade, the blogger for whom this post has been named, Check out his post “The Need to Use PC and Internet Technology More Productively in African Societies” for more information – the basic point he makes is that people love to own net technology for its own sake (as they would a fast car or a big house) rather than for its actual potential.

Here in the UK (and the USA) we have access to a whole new generation of net technology. The revolutionary net services that were started by Comcast Xfinity and AT&T Uverse allow us to connect to the web in multiple ways from a single line or signal. We can deliver work, ideas and personal thoughts across time zones to users from all parts of the world, all of whom are using different kinds of communications equipment.

Within our own country’s boundaries, we can even fuse the kinds of communications equipment we use to make our whole net experience more productive. This is the same both for home and business users – and increasingly for home/business users, whose consumption of packages like the Comcast Xfinity connection is explicitly so they can run a household where work and pleasure take up equal parts of the bandwidth.

Bandwidth, of course, is crucial to the whole experience one has of the net – and to the use one makes of it. Speed is essential for opening up the work and play possibilities of the net in a way that allows us to use the technology more productively. And this is where the Comcast Xfinity connection and its siblings comes into effect.

New generation high speed internet connections offer a real prospect of using the net for life, rather than in rationed portions. With a Comcast connection, or an AT&T connection or a Verizon or Time Warner connection, net users can fuel a whole household of use: from learning, to play, to entertainment, to the provision and collection of information necessary for making money (work, by a more simple term – documents and files and secure payment information and whatever else it is you need to earn your daily bread). And it is all done through a simple cable (or a satellite signal).

As with all new technology, we have to be careful not to confuse productivity with overuse. Mr Solgabade’s point, in his original article, is that there’s a huge difference between buying a computer to show you are wealthy enough to do so, and buying one to use it to widen your horizons. The same is true of technology like the Comcast Xfinity connection. Buy it because you can and there’s a real danger that your family will “overeat” on digital junk food, consuming hours of endless pointless nothing in the name of show.

Buy it, on the other hand, because you can see the opportunities for streamlining your family’s use of the net into a much more interactive and controlled way, and you will not only get more from your time online but you will free up extra time offline to enjoy the real world.

Zagg sorry to break the news to you:

http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggsparq.php

But first of all you are overpriced. Oh wait for those wondering what Zagg is take a deep look with your shiny eyes.

Zagg basically is a device that plugs into an outlet has two USB outputs and you can charge your USB devices and Zagg works like a battery (stores power if you want to charge with it unplugged) and it's a little square same size like a regular Blackberry.

Zagg is just overpriced at $99 dollars, and who would like to carry a battery pack around them do we really want an extra Blackberry in our pocket? (I'd rather just carry a fully charged battery in my wallet) but of course Zagg wants you to buy it.

I bet the device was made in China and cost of production was probably a dollar, that would equal a profit margin of 9900 percent for Zagg.

I mean I don't want to hate on Zagg.com they got some cool gadgets, but hey easy with the price guys!

Just my two cents on it, I hope I didn't rub Zagg the wrong way.

Zagg please don't kill me

Hey Folks,

So Google TV will now be on Android 3.1 (a.k.a. Honeycomb).

There is possibility, that you may be able to watch videos on your Android devices and when you get home continue watching it on your Google TV where you left off. (I think that be pretty cool)

Major Google TV suppliers will be:

Logitech

Samsung

Sony

Vizio

I am not really sure if Vizio is up to the standards yet, I wouldn't really trust a Vizio Google TV (but that being said it's just my opinion again)

There is some buzz around Youtube movie rentals, which is a cool concept with the Android and Google TV being able to rent movies directly from Youtube (is this a shot at netflix, except using the powerful channel of youtube already?)

Anyways I am interested to see where this unfolds!

Any comments and thoughts on Google TV?

Well Google Nexus S is not out in Canada yet at this time. But if you live in bordering cities like Windsor-Detroit, or Toronto-Buffalo you can just drive across the border and pick one up with no-contract from any BestBuy for $529.

Allot of scalpers have been popping up on eBay and selling them for $700 a pop.

I think this phone is pretty sweet. I called and confirmed with Best buy that Canadians can buy this phone without any terms or contracts or they do not need any plan with any US carrier. Phone comes locked to T-mobile but I am sure it can be unlocked and used with carriers in Canada since it supports these frequencies.

If you are thinking Skype support, forget about it only with Verizon. But Skype has stated they will release an Android Skype App soon (maybe out already, I am talking about using 3G not wi-fi). You can use alternative software called NimBuzz, but it will only allow you to call Skype contact.

Anyways, here are the specs directly from BestBuy:

Android 2.3
Packed with the latest Google features.

16GB of built-in memory
Lets you store contact information, phone numbers and more.

Contour display
With a comfortable, smooth grip provides maximized visibility and usability.

Built-in hotspot capability
Share an Internet connection with others.

The latest Google features
Including YouTube 2.0, Gmail and more.

Built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n network
For Internet capability (additional fees may apply).

Virtual QWERTY keyboard
For quick and easy text messaging.

4" WVGA display with 480 x 800 resolution
For clear viewing of your text messages, photos and videos.

5.0MP digital camera with autofocus and flash
Lets you snap photos to share with friends and family.

Google Maps and Google Mobile services
For improved phone functionality and navigation.

Built-in MP3 player
Lets you enjoy your favorite tunes.

Built-in video player
Lets you watch movies, TV shows and home videos.

Easy scroll
Makes Web browsing simple.

* Phone activation required before use.

This concludes, my short and sweet quick review of using Nexus S in Canada, I haven't really tested in Canada yet with providers like Wind, Rogers, Fido, or Mobilicity if anyone has used Skype using data plan on these providers not wi-fi let me know.

So , I decided to do a review on this little monster called "Samsung Galaxy S". The phone supports the following bands:

GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100

The phone is really thin I should say and is the only device that is certified as a "Wi-fi direct". What this means is that you can connect to other Wi-fi devices without a access point, so instead of the old annoying bluetooth you can just do a direct Wi-fi connections.

In theory you will be able to share you photos and videos, with users using Wi-fi direct! but that means the other device must be also wi-fi direct compatible but the Samsung Galaxy S is the first one on the list to be Wi-fi direct, even the Apple 4G doesn't cut it here.

The phone has a front facing and back facing camera as well, it comes packed with Android and is really quick!

This is definitely a hit by Samsung you can check out more specs on the phone at, http://galaxys.samsungmobile.com/

The phone packs a 1Ghz processor, comes with Grey and Black sorry no pretty white iPhone here.

If you ever get lost in the woods the phone has a digital compass, TV-out, comes with fully packed with flash.

Check out the videos of the phone below if you want to see, how this little guy looks like. It's just bigger than an iphone and the screen is very bright on this phone!.

And the to headsets that jump out at me are:

1. BlueAnt Q1 Jawbone

2. Jawbone and the new one ofcourse the Jawbone ICON

Both of these look hot and sleek. The first thing i like about the jawbone ICON exclusively is myTalk this a place where you can change the voice that conveys important information on the headset like battery life and caller id. Some apps allow you to voice to sms, and voice dialing including listening to posts on twitter/facebook.

I think the myTalk is a huge leap in headset market to distinguish themselves from others. Although this is in beta now, I am expecting a full launch of this service for all jawbone ICON version (6 of them) owners.

Noise Assasin comes in handy as it eliminated noise in the background, I seen some actual call videos of the noise assassin and thing thing truly is amazing.

Now let's move on to Q1. The reason I like the Q1 lots and lots of voice command controls. Multi-point connect two phones at once and answer the one that rings, the older generation of jawbone don't support mutli-point the first jawbone with multi-point was the jawbone prime. So basically Original Jawbone and Jawbone 2 no mutli-point!

Digging in deeper and doing some warranty comparison,

Jawbone (all versions) - 1 year warranty
Q1 - 2 year warranty

When it comes to battery life thy claim

Jawbone Icon (4.5 hours talk time, 10 days standby time)
Q1 - 4 hours talk time , 100 hours standby (4.16 days of standby, i mean something is wrong with this picture talk time 4 hours and 4 days standby only compared to 4.5 hours of talk time on jawbone icon and 10 days this is a big gap, is this truly honest statistics in both of the battery life claims?)

Blueant in the Q1 uses Voice Insulation Technology but based on some reviews snooping around the say phone assassin does the job better (anyone disagree?).

People claim that Q1 does not fit as good as the jawbone, but the voice recogniztion is good!

I think if you want something with allot of voice commands, I would go with the Q1. Although the Jawbone Icon is stylish and sleek and with myTalk app interface who knows what updates and apps will come out for it, the future is bright for both of them but if you are a person that knows voice commands are important for you, I would definitely settle with the BlueAnt Q1.

So, the conclusion is these two headsets got me really confused which one is better any thought and comments to help me make the right choice?
