OK, If you don't have data on your (Fido,Rogers,Telus,Bell or whatever carrier) and you want to simply change your Facebook Status, or reply to a MSG on your wall, this can be done with Text Message.

What can I do with Facebook Mobile?

• Update Status with Text (Just text 32665 with your status message and it will be updated)
• Read and Reply to your Inbox
• Reply if someone posts something to your wall
• Msg your friends
• Check events
• Wall Post
• Add a Friend

Please Note: These are NOT considered PREMIUM MESSAGES with the following carriers, this means you will not be charged for them unless your carrier charges you for text messages. I have UNLIMITED INCOMING text messages and 2500 OUTGOING MESSAGES on my package what this means essentially is I can receive all the updates on my phone as much as I want and would be able to reply to it only 2500times otherwise I would be charged standard text message rate on my carrier. I am sure this is Free with the following carriers here in Canada: BELL , TELUS , ROGERS , FIDO

Here is a few thing you need to get started:

1. A Cell Phone!
2. Unlimited Text Message package on your plan (I have 2500 Text messages on my plan OUTGOING and UNLIMITED INCOMING)

Let's get started: So go to:

http://www.facebook.com/mobile/
(don't worry the link will open in new window click on it)

Scroll Down on the page until you see this:

Select "Edit Settings" , next you will see the following Window

Click "Register for Facebook Text Messages"

Now Choose your Country and Carrier and Select NEXT

In this Example I am choosing Canada and Fido or Rogers. Next I will see the following screen.

Using your mobile phone text the letter "f" to 32655

Now wait for a reply you should get a reply from 32655, after you get the reply simply enter your activation code as shown on screen below

Enter Activation Code and hit confirm.

Now you are using Facebook mobile! Now from:

http://www.facebook.com/mobile/#/mobile/?settings

You can configure various things:

You can Add another Phone, Turn Text On or Off, Setup Time when Text messages will go to your phone and limit daily texts too a specific amount, and WHO's status updates should go to your phone.
NOTE: The last one comes in handy as you will have SMS subscriptions and only get updates from certain people.

Hit Save preferences and you are all done!

Test it Out:

TEXT 32655 - Bla Bla
* Your Status should be updates to Bla Bla

TEXT 32655 - msg Joe Smith what's up
* This will look for Joe Smith and msg him what's up, if it can't find Joe Smith it will text you back with suggestions of people on your friends list that resamble Joe Smith, maybe Joe Smithers!

TEXT 32655 - search Joe Smith
* It will look for Joe Smith and come back with results

TEXT 32655 - cell Joe Smith
* If the person posted their cellphone on their profle it will message you their cellphone (usefull if you need someone's number from your facebook)

TEXT 32655 - Events
* Will text you back with all the events you been invited too

TEXT 32655 - wall Joe Smith www.newtechevolution.com
* It will post www.newtechevolution.com on Joe Smith's wall

TEXT 32655 add Joe Smith
* It will add Joe Smith to friends

*** Note allot of people Asked if a provider will bill them Facebook App does not Bill, this is not premium content if your service provided is charging you for it they are ripping you off unless you don't have a basic text message package. I know fido and rogers have unlimited incoming text message packages and a certain amount of outgoing. If you have something like this, this should be FREE!!. Check with your provider before you use!
