Sharp SH6230C heads to china. Completely solar powered cellphone recharges from the sun. Last year LG has the POP which was a solar powered cellphone no Sharp decided to move into this area.

This is pretty cool because how many times you were in a situation that you were somewhere and you couldn't SMS/CALL because your battery was dead. I know I have been there this is why i carry an extra loaded battery in my wallet at all times!

In 2009, there was also Blue Earth Handset but that is like so 2000. It is nice to see more manufacturers moving into green phones.

The Sharp Hybrid SH6230, is supposed to hit the market in China, this February. The phone will feature

2.9inch display

5mega pixel camera

I see alot of companies moving into this direction in 2011, with solar powered cellphones it's good to see them go green. Right now there is an alternative you can grab solar charges on eBay

like the IceTech Solar 300 iPhone charger fully charged in 3hours under bright sun conditions, not bad goes on Amazon.com for 69 dollars.

Or you can grab the cheap universal charges from Hong Kong being sold on eBay, I am not sure how good they are at charging your cellphone but they run for about 9 dollars.

This is a good way to reduce your ecological footprint, but after all these solar panels still use a good amount of materials to be produced. The interesting part to see in 2011, is if these phone will actully hit the North American markets.

Personally I think it would be pretty neet if Canadian or US carriers started offering these green friendly phones.
